Copyright Policy

Copyrights

We ask for:

  • Exclusive First World electronic rights to publish the work; exclusivity ends at time of publication. All rights revert to the author upon publication. After publication, non-exclusive series right and electronic archival rights to maintain the work on the website.

    • For Para el Pueblo issues, for translated works, if translation is done by anyone other than the original author, please provide documentation that the translating author has the right to translate and publish the work.

    • For Art and Photography, if the work considered for publication is a copy or photograph of an artwork, we ask for documentation that the submitting individual has the right to copy and publish the work.

  • (Optional) English rights to a for-profit print version of the issue where the work will appear. At this time, this option is non-paying (i.e. royalties) because it is to support the magazine, but if substantial revenue is collected from print sales, we will discuss a royalty.

    • For Para el Pueblo issues, we ask for Spanish rights for the print version as well.

  • Reprint right: after publication, all rights revert to the author. As a kindness, not a requirement, we ask authors to please credit Tree and Stone Magazine as the original publisher.
